We have a right to self defense. This includes defense against ALL threats, not just criminals. Our government, and governments throughout history have proven themselves to be threats to their citizens. The founding fathers knew this and that second amendment is their gift to us in the name of defending ourselves against tyranny. On this basis alone, we have the right to have sufficient fire power to defend ourselves from whatever a government wishes to throw at us. Each encroachment should be viewed as a direct threat to our freedom and dealt with accordingly.
