Even as Trump urges Syria exit, the military says it’s not finished with ISIS (Compost Warmongering)

The Pentagon’s mission against the Islamic State in Syria remains open-ended despite President Trump’s promise of a quick U.S. withdrawal.

Military leaders are focusing on pushing the once-powerful group out of the small foothold it controls in eastern Syria and ensuring that it cannot plot attacks against the United States, a task defense officials have suggested will require a U.S. footprint after the fighting stops.

What remains unclear is how the military will reconcile its vision with that of the president, whose distrust of foreign wars and desire to demonstrate a swift victory were evident in the past week as he vowed that U.S. troops would depart Syria “very soon.”

So right you are. President Donald Trump can move the press in any direction he wants by advocating the exact opposite of what he really wants.

Shocking how quick Trump drove the left into the arms of the Neocons.

Trump needs to fire some generals...Dumsford would make a good starting point.

Obama got us into this war and Trump is getting us out. We can’t have that now, can we.

Well, he could increase Syrian night patrols, and put Dumsford on point.

Pulling out is a BIG mistake! We should maintain a force as long as Russia and Iran are present. In fact we should build a base, (A BIG ONE)

They don’t need the Lakers to take on a Jayvee squad.

Ya know, ya got a good point.

Several secular heads of state in the Middle East have had the wherewithal to keep the Islamic Terrorists in check.

Too bad the Deep Swamp Globalists killed 'em off, like they want to with Assad.

State was hoping to keep the remnants of ISIS alive to join the anti-Assad Al Qaeda.

So I like that there are some in the military that want to finish them off completely. We don’t want them returning to Europe, or here, or joining the other jihadist groups.

“Ensuring it can not plot attacks against the US?” Retarded. Who is stupid enough to believe any action taken against any force can stop “plotting?” Two dudes in an IHOP in Lubbock with Sharpies and legal pads can “plot.” No amount of invasions and special forces or electronic surveillance can stop “plotting.” Its a sad state of affairs when adults push this nonsense and adults believe it.

"Open-ended war" my ass.

Kill the bad guys until they come cringing to the surrender table.

Or bring our troops home home.

There is a cogent military argument against total withdrawal, and my guess is that Trump will leave a small special forces advisory presence. Yet Trump’s fundamental approach is surely correct in avoiding the longterm heavy footprint that conventional military planning tends toward.
