Interesting times. If I'm dressed, I have a knife, and I don't really like being without one. Because you can't open a package of cookies with a gun, that's why.

But "zombie knife"? I confess a little confusion there. For anyone else so behind the times as not to know what a "zombie knife" is, I offer THIS ARTICLE. It's apparently an object with a sharp edge - that'd be the "knife" part, you're welcome - and a greenish handle. I've never actually encountered a green zombie, so it isn't that, but perhaps the green handles really do them up a treat. That's a good thing to know when you're in zombie country.

Liam Neeson's armored collar in Gangs of NY might be a good choice.

Have any of you guys been to London?

No, it's not "Londonistan" - not yet at least.

There are parts in the outskirts like Luton that are heavily Mohammaden, but cops still go there and a single white female (leave alone males etc) can still freely go there and will be safe

This is nowhere near the level of danger in Chicago or New york bar manhattan

Your folks will be safe, Mears.

Seriously, don't believe the hype - London is safer than most cities stateside. Ditto for Paris (and I dislike Paris)

Like all places, you want to know where you are going and don't go to the dangerous spots (which can also be majority white) in the night time

For the tourist spots it is very safe

I would recommend a nice walk from Victoria Terminus to Buck house to the houses of parliament, then across the bridge to the London war Museum, then back across tower bridge to the tower, then St pauls, The City, then to Trafalgar square and the museums there.

Iron, both your statements are not quite true in the way they are presented:

At one time they pretty much ruled a huge part of the world. - in the late 1800s they ruled over Canada, Australia, South Africa, South Asia and large parts of Africa, but the majority of their Empire was created by trade. They were never the great military power, but they did have the pre-eminent navy and they knew very well how to work with alliances and divide-and-rule. They were never a scary military power. They knew when to leave when their military power was no match (as they did when the Indian military went on strike in 1946 to demand independence) - so kudos to them

Now they are reduced to simpering butt boys for their muslim invaders. =- firstly, they invited in the Mohammaedans from Pakiland. They have few to no Mohammaden "refugees". And no, with the exception of some in the establishment, they are not all "buttboys" as you put it. They still have a spine, its just not reported that well in the US media

What IS happening and has happened in the UK is that they killed off Christianity in their country - the Anglican churches are empty. The Catholic and Baptist and Coptic churches are still full, but the mood is anti-religion. Even the Mohammadens in the UK are to quite an extent athiest (in the range of 40% to 60%). With this society-wide antipathy, they don't know how to react to peope who HAVE a cause.

We’re an older group & walking is at least a little difficult for one or two of us. But your walk sounds nice. I’ve been looking at a hop-on, hop-off river cruise that starts at the Westminster bridge & goes down to Greenwich. We’ll be in London for three full days. I’ll add your suggestion to my notes. Thanks! :-)

hmm... a hop-on, hop-off is good. Let me know (if you wish) where you plan on staying and roughly what you’d like to see and I can give you suggestions about good restaurants, sights etc. — you may send a private message if you wish. Have fun - London is a lovely city

“Have any of you guys been to London?”

I’ve been to London many times, and several of my family members, including the one running in the marathon, have been there.

My fear isn’t of London but large crowd events.

.

Thanks for the offer! Our trip is late in the year, starting with a Paris-Normandy-Paris Viking River cruise. We’ll stay an extra day in Paris & then on to London for a few days before going to Edinburgh. Any insights into London you have will be much appreciated. We haven’t selected a hotel yet, but I’ve been looking at options. How difficult is the ‘tube’ to use? We’ll most likely be using it for transport. The hotels I’ve been looking at have easy access to it.

On that we are in agreement. I do realize that many people feel happy and energized with a large crowd, but I'm an introvert (as per MBTI) and feel drained in a large crowd. So I don't attend sporting event etc. The only large crowd "event" I attend is the Stations of the cross in Warsaw on good Friday -- it's across the whole old town, so lots and lots of people.
