Should we bomb Syria? (There are good arguments on both sides)

The Media and Mueller are obsessed with trivial issues such as did Michael Cohen use a home equity loan to give Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about a possible one night stand 12 years ago with Donald Trump, and whether this is an unlawful campaign contribution by Cohen. It is not a campaign contribution, but the facts do not matter to the Media/Mueller. Moreover, what does this have to with “Russian collusion” to affect the 2016 election?

In the real world, President Trump has to decide whether to bomb Syria to punish it because Assad used chemical weapons to kill Syrians. As we all know this is a complicated civil war in Syria with Assad, aided by Iran and Russia, fighting the rebels.

For the sake of argument, let us assume that Assad ordered the use of chemical weapons to kill. Why should we then bomb Syria?

The arguments to bomb Syria is that the United States as the leader of the free world cannot allow Assad to use chemical weapons. This is essentially a moral argument, especially today, the day of Holocaust remembrance. Hitler used chemical and other weapons to kill six million Jews, millions of Gypsies, homosexuals, Catholic and Protestant clergy, and others in the concentration camps.

If we were not at war with Nazi Germany while this was happening, we should have, according to the moral argument, bombed Germany to stop the killings. It should not matter that Hitler killed millions but Assad killed far less.

The argument against bombing Syria is a practical one. The bombing will not kill Assad or his generals but will kill Syrians unlucky to be at the military sites we bomb.

United States as the leader of the free world cannot allow Assad to use chemical weapons

But we can have the Saudis and Obama CIA organize and arm radical Sunni jihad groups, launch a civil war and overthrow a government over oil pipeline routes, and push a couple million Muslim immigrants to Europe.

No US interests, we should not expend a single dime on that country, let alone even put one person at risk there. It is a civil war where both sides are moooelimb losers. Don’t care who wins, and it doesn’t matter.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

No

Cruise missiles don’t have pilots that can be killed or captured.

The increased presence of Russia and Iran means that syria is likely to be lost.

Destroying the Assad power is called for since he is a proven war criminal.

The question was bombing. The answer is no.

The question was not should there be retribution by the civilized nations against repeated Syrian war crimes?

The safe retribution is stand off cruise missiles that do not have pilots but have very long range.

We should bomb California. They seem to be at war with Constitution and the rest of the American citizenry anyway.

How’s that much different from bombing?

Syria -- obviously no.... but

Russian MOD just released a statement directly accusing the UK of staging a provocation in Ghouta. I presume some evidence will appear before long.

If it so happens that the UK actually carried a chemical attack in Ghouta, should be bomb the UK? After all, Trump promised to bomb whoever is responsible .....

If we BOMB Syria, it needs to happen only once, be nuclear in nature, excessively overdone, and should encompass Tehran, Mecca, Medina and Riyadh, Jordan, and at least the northern half of Afghanistan.

.....and maybe a few strays dropped on Turkey, BUT IT HAS TO BE A LIMITED ATTACK!

Another piece of crap neocon rant, masquerading as objectivity.

Not only is it not established who used chemical weapons recently, the preponderance of the evidence implicates the insurgency.

So lets cut this steaming puddle of rhetorical diarrhea off at the beginning and not do anything rash until culpability is firmly established.
