People need to be careful how they use social media. Especially younger people who are still building their careers. Prospective employers scrutinize an applicant's social media profile. As a hiring manager, I can tell you from experience that we have unconsidered otherwise qualified candidates purely on their social media content.

Also, people here on Free Republic need to realize that this is part of social media as well and even though we mostly use pseudonyms, it is fairly easy for our real identities to be determined.

Never has a greater truth been written. This especially applies to parents who allow their teens to use FB.

Well if someone really wants to know ‘who’ and ‘where’ you are it's just a click away because even if you don't post on social media sites other institutions, companies etc. have your information out there.

Try and see a physician and see if you can get in without giving them your information to slot into their computers.

The Chicago Trib had an article a few weeks ago that said 70 percent of employers use social media to screen potential employees. Guess it keeps the PI overhead down..
