It's a strategy to tighten ideological control. And it is happening around the world.

n July 2017, a group of nine Chinese students and faculty from Huazhong University of Science and Technology participating in a summer program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) formed a Chinese Communist Party branch on the third floor of Hopkins Hall, a campus dormitory.

The group held meetings to discuss party ideology, taking a group photo in front of a red flag emblazoned with a hammer and sickle, according to a July 2017 article and photos posted to the Huazhong University website. The students’ home institution had sent four teachers on the trip, directing them to set up the party cell to strengthen “ideological guidance” while the students were in the United States.

Would someone please explain why the heck we allow foreign students into our universities...

They pay full freight?

State universities operate on the US citizens’ tax dollars and should only allow US citizens in. Same for K-12.

The thing is...on most American campuses the Chinese Communist clubs are considered conservative.

That is similar to my first thought. Our communists are more communist than their communists. Maybe the presence of ChiComs will moderate the most libtarded tendencies of our homegrown Marxists.

According to the article, these cells are intended to keep the Chinese students “in line” while they study abroad.

They also have the effect of keeping American citizens, who are of Chinese origin, in line with what they say and what they do. The problem is, they have no legal authority to do that.

This article is about efforts of the PRC to “keep their kids in line” while they study abroad. Sure, these kids were always monitored to some degree, but this is more overt. Exactly. It also ensures that those who remain in the U.S. can be counted on to work on behalf of the Reds. American companies are riddled with Chinese spies.
