It seems a lot of the political people who think that they understand these thing weren’t watching Trump’s energetic engagement of the people - all of those rallies, all of those people showing up at them.

I got to see Trump in person at a very important juncture in his campaign. It was at Fairfield, CT on August 13, 2016 at the Sacred Heart University - just a short drive from my house on all back roads.

It was a brutally hot August day. My wife and I stood in line for several hours waiting to get in and once inside the gymnasium was sweltering hot and people were fainting all around us on account of the heat. Trump kept us waiting for several more hours once inside because so much was going on in his campaign.

He was in the process of firing Manafort and bringing in Kellyanne Conway and Steve Bannon to run his campaign. Still, he put on a tremendous rally and it was then that I just knew that Trump would win because if he could get thousands of people to sweat in heat for him for hours and hours in the middle of blue state Connecticut, than he was unstoppable.

After the rally was done, we had a tremendous thunderstorm move through the area. We drank a lot of bottles of water that day.

The people were desperate for real leadership from someone who honored the values of our long-traditional political philosophy.

I believe that they got that kind of man.
