Upcoming site set to analyze news will have fake news hotline

An upcoming media service aimed at analyzing news will have a hotline for members of the public and political candidates to flag what they consider fake news seen on the internet.

NewsGuard is set to announce the telephone hotline, as well as an encrypted digital hotline, which can be resources for people to flag what they believe to be fake news.

“We’ve already seen one case of a candidate citing an endorsement from a bogus site that was created by supporters of that candidate. This is a particularly insidious variety of fake news because it is aimed directly at unsuspecting voters," the company's co-CEO Steven Brill told Axios.

The company's analysts promise to monitor online news hubs around the clock in an effort to pinpoint trending news sites that NewsGuard has not yet examined or rated and in order to warn newsreaders about fake news as quickly as possible.

Media Matters, SPLC, ADL, Democratic Underground, Move On, DNC et. al. are likely ready to go.

The Democratic Troll Army will have the hotline on speed dial.

AXIOS:

The company launched with a mission statement that consisted of, "Media is broken—and too often a scam." It planned to focus on "business, technology, politics, and media trends". Furthermore, they disavowed the use of banner ads, pop-ups, and clickbait titles, using native advertising instead. The article style was focused on brevity, clear structure, and often features bullet points.

I just saw something on the internet about my candidate that’s causing me to doubt his truthfulness. I’m going to the fake news site to check it out. That’s how dedicated I am to our electoral system.

As news feeds have become more consolidated, by Facebook, Google and Twitter, there is a huge opportunity for these new gate keepers to control what is available.

They have the ability to influence public opinion and they know it.

The opportunity for alternative/competitors has never been greater.

If our new “Overlords” of information decide to fully exercise their influence we are in deep S8it.

Politifacts is owned by a newspaper that has NOT HAD ONE CONSERVATIVE STAFF MEMBER IN IT’S NEWSROOM IN OVER 40 YEARS.

Know who you’re dealing with... know why they care ... and what dog they have in the fight.

If this is another Fact Checker for the Ministry of Propaganda like Snopes, it’s uselessness will be exposed quickly.

All so called major news outlets are purveyors of fake news. Colluding on the questions to be asked at press conferences and the daily talking points. Running fake news from DNC press releases at ‘factual’. Global warming scare, denial of the ills of Communism and Socialism, revionist history, photoshopping and ‘fake but accurate’ partisan propaganda.

So people are basing their decision of who to vote for on endorsements from websites nobody ever heard of?

Hillary was corrupt AF and she was rejected by the public. Nuff said.

"resources for people to flag what they believe to be fake news."

Sounds more like a device to measure how well a propaganda gambit is working.
