A state lawmaker from New York City has authored a bill that would end riflery, trap shooting and archery as a sport in public schools.
Assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal, a Democrat who represents the 67th Assembly District in western Manhattan, introduced the bill on April 20. At this point, there is no co-sponsor for it in the state Senate.
The bill, A10428, which was sent to the Assembly's Education Committee, would amend the state's Education Law and calls for the "prohibition of marksmanship and/or shooting programs in public schools" - a change that "shall take effect immediately."

Yes, our enemies are teaching their children to hate us and strap bombs on themselves and destroy us. We should disarm and not learn good outdoor skills. Meanwhile service chief after service chief has testified before Congress how the obesity crisis among our youth is making them fat and less of them can qualify to go into the military. Lets just let them sit on the couch all day and play video games. No need to go do outdoor stuff and learn skills that will make you self sustainable...

Why doesn’t Linda B. Rosenthal, an idiot who represents the 67th Assembly District in western Manhattan, also advocate for banning of much more dangerous activities from schools, such as swimming and driving and reading comprehension and sex education instruction?

This is good news for New York. It makes more room on the schedule and in the budget for LGBTQWERTY lessons where they show straight-out porn.

Manhattan thinks it is the State of New York. That’s why it’s always resisting the authority of the State government, except when Manhattan wants to use that authority to impose its will on the rest of the State. Manhattan’s arrogance and hypocrisy know no bounds.
Someone needs to get proactive here and ban anything which uses explosions (controlled or otherwise) as well as anything with a sharp edge and wooded or metal clubs of any sort or size.
That should cover it.
As long as they still allow courses in surviving a knife fight in a bar, I’m good. ;)
and football, also teaching is dangerous ... oh wait the NEA union members haven’t had teaching as an approved activity for years.
Public schools are such a joke to me now that I can’t take this stuff seriously any more. If my wife and I had school age kids today they would be home schooled. And our kids would run circles around their public and privately schooled peers.
Or does she pretend to understand the isue better than George Washington, who wanted Congress to adopt the Swiss system.
But abortion, dildos, homosexuals, transgenders, same sex parents, and testing the waters with both sexes to make sure you know who you really are, will still be taught.

Man, my public school kids here in DFW can take ‘outdoor trails’ and learn about firearm safety, shoot a bow and arrow, go fishing, etc. My Son’s HS has a skeet shooting club.
There’s still a lot of hunters in WNY, certainly a lot of deer that need to be thinned out. How about some brave assemblyman offer up a bill mandating and funding a firearm safety class? In a sane world, Right and Left could make an argument for it. In the today’s world, the Left would just freak-right-out and it wouldn’t even be voted on.
Water is more dangerous than assault rifles by an order of magnitude. A large part of the problem is that urban schools DON'T teach swimming. Drowning victims are disproportionately minorities. Because they can't swim. (Duh!)
(I'm all for teaching gun safety in school, too. It's mostly Democrats who argue stupidity is better than knowledge.)
