How Israel obtained Iran's nuclear secrets
Arutz Sheva ^ | 1/5/18 | David Rosenberg

Posted on 05/01/2018 12:30:20 AM PDT by Eleutheria5

In a dramatic televised address Monday evening, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu revealed to the public information gathered from Iran’s nuclear weapons program, proving that the Tehran regime had lied about its efforts to acquire atomic weapons.

The address was made less than two weeks before President Trump’s May 12th deadline for reaching an agreement to improve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, better known as the Iran nuclear deal. If no alterations are made to the deal by the deadline, President Trump has warned he will not hesitate to end sanctions relief for Iran, effectively ending the nuclear deal.

Prime Minister Netanyahu’s address relied heavily on material acquired from a top-secret Iranian archive used to house files related to its nuclear weapons program.

But how did Israel come into possession of a treasure trove of stolen Iranian nuclear documents?

Netanyahu noted that Israel had acquired some 110,000 files – 55,000 pages and 55,000 digital files on CD-ROMs – totaling half a ton of archival material.

According to a report Monday night by The New York Times which cited an anonymous Israeli senior official, the massive document haul was undertaken in a January 2017 operation he hailed as one of Israel’s “greatest achievements” in intelligence gathering.

Israel’s national intelligence agency, the Mossad, discovered the location of the Iranian nuclear weapons program’s secret file archive in Tehran in February 2016, the source told the Times, which Netanyahu revealed was located in the Shorabad district.

Last January, Mossad agents infiltrated the archive in an overnight operation, removing the half ton of material, and smuggled the files to Israel that very same night.

No details on the technical execution of the covert operation were provided.

The Israelis need to be careful how they use the new and secret technology of teleportation. It is best that no hostile powers even suspect the existence of the new technology. ;-)

“New”? Madeline L’Engle was writing children’s books about it (Wrinkle in Time) when I was a wee ‘un, and Ray Bradbury incorporated it into Star Trek.

I think you meant Gene Roddenberry.

The problem with waiting to do anything about Iran until they attack us is that the first we may know of an Iranian nuclear attack could be when the lights go out, followed by American society effectively reverting to the 1800’s within days after that. Whether via an EMP, or a more direct attack, the advent of rogue states developing nuclear arsenals makes it supremely unwise to just sit back “until they attack us.” Even if they leave us alone and attack our allies in Israel or Europe instead, the impact to America’s vital national interests would be severe.

I think North Korea is (so far, at least) a clear example of how willingness to militarily annhilate one’s enemy, if necessary, is an essential prerequisite to successful diplomacy when dealing with these rogue countries. Letting them know that they can threaten us at will, and continue to build the weapons to carry out their threats, with no consequences, is just inviting disaster.

Do not think for one minute that the Norks are not going to do the same thing as Iran. The despots in these two countries think alike and the rocket man will take the que from Iran to do the same thing. Of course maybe the only difference will be that the Norks may not get $150 billion in US cash delivered at their doorstep.

Israel is a great country when it comes to this kind of stuff.

And they can certainly handle themselves.

The only real threat is hordes coming at them, like in the 7 day (or 6 day?) war.

In which case I would expect us to add massive support.

I do still harbor some concern and skepticism about the North Korea situation, but only if Iran is able to remain in the nuclear arms development business. The two countries routinely exchange missile and nuke technology. If North Korea agrees to some kind of a denuclearization agreement, but still has the covert option to purchase nukes from Iran down the road, then we still have a problem.

If instead Iran is forcefully “denuclearized”, or Kim believes that we (and likely a coalition including at least Israel and Saudi Arabia) are serious about making that happen, then I fully believe he will be open to giving up his nuke program. I think the combination of Trump’s clearly-communicated resolve, combined with China’s likely growing anger at some of Kim’s antics (such as testing nukes near the Chinese border until the mountain collapsed, which could leak radiation into China) have convinced him that he is out of options other than negotiation if he wants to stay alive and in power.

You could say that Kim thinks like Stalin or Mao, who wanted to rule the world or some portion of it.

The Mad Mullas are 12er Shia, and actively seek the extinction of the human race or as they put it ‘bringing all to Paradise’, thus the push for ICBMs and nuclear weapons - using those to hit as many targets as possible notably Rome, Tel Aviv, and NYC.

"I think North Korea is (so far, at least) a clear example of how willingness to militarily annihilate one’s enemy, if necessary"

If Iran's nuclear testing and development site should experience an "earthquake" which destroys their ongoing ability to continue their program that would indeed be a clear example.

So, while they were there, why didn’t they leave a nice little explosive that would take out four city blocks?

The Norks do not have the religious motives that Iran does. I think you are correct. They would like to rule part of the world, but realize their country would disappear under mushroom clouds, if they got too rambunctious. The Norks are not trying to conquer the South, Japan, China, the Philippines, Australia. The Iranians, on the other hand, DO have religious motives, and want to conquer as many countries as possible, and export Shi’a. The Iranians are MORE dangerous.

Obama kicked the can down the road, at best. He did not end the specter of Iranian global thermonuclear catastrophe. Until the mullahs are gone their treat to annihilate humankind remains in place. Obama’s plan to put off Armageddon for 10 years is an act of extreme cowardice based on utter depravity and ignoble stupidity. He actually bribed evil men with $150 billion cash to defer the extermination of life on earth for 10 years, thereby funding our demise.

Maybe they would have liked to do that, but carrying in tons of explosives, on foot, or in small cars, might have been a dead giveaway, to Iranian security forces.
