The comment was impolite, but true. This lionizing of POW’s whose principal achievement was getting captured is a creation of the media. We used to lionize heroes who risked their lives and achieved the improbable. Now we lionize incompetent losers.

It would be if it had come out of a clear blue sky. However, the context was McCain yapping about Haspel and torture, and criticizing her. In context, McInerney was entirely appropriate. If McCain doesn’t want to be criticized he needs to STFU — and die already.
