Actually, the even scarier part is just how much of the Hilina Slump falls into the Pacific. If the amount is fairly large, we may be talking 150 to 200 feet tall tsunami waves hitting much of the eastern Pacific coastline. The 2011 tsunami that hit Japan would look minor in comparison.

I have an old high school chum who is in the process of moving to Hawaii because he just retired.
The home he bought on the Big Island is in the path of the lava flow and ash cloud.
He seems to think it is no problem but I'm not so sure.
