The biggest concern this *opinion* piece seemed to have was that the wacko women were white. Not that they were mentally ill lesbians protected by a sick, leftist PC culture in the welfare system.
Can white women raise black children? My lily white SIL (in her 50s at the time she got them) took in as fosters 3 black crack babies at the same time, all less than 2 weeks old (and a 4th white baby of the same age). She fully adopted all of them when they were young. 3 are now out of high school, 1 is very autistic, so she will always be taking care of him.
These young men are super tight with their white cousins. Over the years they have thanked her many times for working so hard to give them the opportunity in life that they have. They are acutely aware of how their lives would have been had a 53 yo white woman had not adopted them. It has been interesting watching them grow up over the years.
Neither she, nor anyone else in our extended family ever gave a hoot about race.
Also, she handled many foster babies, at one point 12 babies because the system had nowhere for them. Over the years some of the absurdity she endured dealing with the foster care system was just crazy & sad.
