Interesting - another establishment lawyer (and a top SCOTUS appellate lawyer) is showing Trump the end game.

Please do not alter the original title. It causes duplicate postings when the OP searches on it. Thanks.

It’s hard for me to imagine Ted Olsen would be unbiased enough to give this take on the situation. His arguments pretty much inflicted ‘gay marriage’ on every state, overturning state amendments by the federal government. He must be able to look himself in the mirror, I guess.

At this point, the judge would probably require Mueller to show precisely what he wants from the president, why he needs it, why he cannot get the evidence elsewhere, and the importance of that evidence to a specific prosecution. Mueller would have to be highly specific and show that his need for the presidents testimony as a witnessnot for the purpose of discoverywas necessary to prosecute specific criminal acts. Not for the purpose of discovery, yes, that's part of the issue, and the other part is not to attempt to trick the President into statements that do not match evidence that is already in hand but not disclosed to the court. No perjury traps allowed.
All this assumes that Mueller's word is good on both topics, and in fact it isn't good on any topic. He is a known liar who isn't at all above misrepresenting his intentions here. I wouldn't advise Trump to dignify this idiot charade with his presence.

I think we Freepers should make a petition to Congress or whomever and demand an end to this bsw.

Er ...doesn’t there have to be evidence of a crime to compel anyone to testify about anything?j

A prosecutor would have to present the CRIME to the grand jury.
Didn't you notice that to date no one has charged Trump with a crime?
QUESTION TO CWW What do think the grand jury would do?

So, he feels Muellers interview isnt a good idea, but for whom is he truly concerned...Trump or swamp dwellers?
