Anti-gun activists, Dems attack ‘imaginary 2nd Amendment’ after school shooting

Friday’s Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas left Democrat lawmakers and gun control advocates calling for change.

In response to the event in the Houston suburb that saw a 17-year-old student kill 10 and leave another dozen injured, Democrats in Congress quickly laid the blame for the incident on the spotty success of moving gun control measures forward in Washington.

“This an epidemic of horrifying proportions, and Congress has made a deliberate, conscious choice to facilitate this slaughter,” said U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who then proclaimed on social media, “I support the real 2nd Amendment, not the imaginary 2nd Amendment.”

Murphy went on to clarify that his interpretation of the constitutional right to keep and bear arms “allows Congress to wake up to reality and ban these assault rifles that are designed for one purpose only — to kill as many people as fast as possible,” although reports from Sante Fe state that the suspect in the shooting that killed eight students and two faculty used a Remington 870 pump shotgun and a .38-caliber revolver, neither of which would have fallen under the former federal assault weapons ban.

Murphy was joined by Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, who said,”Thoughts & prayers aren’t enough! We need action and legislation,” and New Hampshire Democrat Maggie Hassan who urged, “Congress must act to prevent these senseless acts of gun violence.”

Rhode Island’s U.S. Rep. David Cicilline, sponsor of a current proposal to ban most semi-auto firearms that has 176 fellow Dems signed on, tweeted that, “Every time there’s another mass shooting, I get more pissed off at Republicans in Congress. They are the reason nothing gets done to stop this.”

Among national gun control organizations, the Brady Campaign, Giffords and Everytown all issued statements over the weekend urging action and blaming the gun lobby for Congressional inaction in passing more regulation on guns.

“We need the courage to take on the special interests who say that nothing can be done, that these acts of evil are beyond our ability to control,” said Gabby Giffords. “They are not. The gun lobby and the politicians who receive the NRA’s checks must understand we will not tolerate another vote against our safety.”

Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, compared exposing the NRA’s agenda to squashing cockroaches as her organization posted recruitment calls on social media and sent out mailers urging donations to the group under the banner of Students Demand Action. When called out by a conservative website for being a “vulture” for “dancing on graves to blame NRA for Santa Fe High School shooting,” Watts tweeted that she was “Proud to be a vulture.”

If someone wants to commit murder no law will stop them.

Fools.

The Democrats have a big plan on confiscating all guns in the Republic but are clueless in how to prevent illegal guns from flooding across the borders into the hands of criminals.

You are more than a vulture, Watts, you are a ghoul.

When kids in today’s society include murder in the number of ways they can deal with everyday issues and troubles, no gun control law is going to solve that.

The commies and Nazis feeding off of this country love to preach and celebrate every time one of their school shootings is successfully pulled off. It’s the only reason they have their “awards” shows. They are a platform to spew they anti-American hatred.

Democrats are always “fighting” for this and that. Which is OK because fighting isn’t doing. It’s just making noise.

These socialist fools continue to play on the backs of dead children to keep their agenda on the emotional platform to appeal to the low-information, ignorant electorate. Something they must do, since they CANNOT PROVIDE A RATIONAL, REASONABLE SOLUTION THAT DOES NOT INFRINGE UPON THE CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOMS OF LAW-ABIDING AMERICANS. That is not important to them.

Their TRUE agenda remains to DISARM LAW ABIDING CITIZENS and tear apart our Constitution any way they can.

I’ve read several articles that described the shotgun as a “sawed-off” shotgun. In one article I heard it was a side by side, implying double barrel.

Was it in fact a Remington 870 and that makes me question about the “sawed off” statement in the press coverage.

We have a Winchester pump shotgun that has had the barrel cut off, but it is NOT short. It is open choke. It was my grandfather’s, he did not buy it new.

So, is there something about the shotgun used in Santa Fe, TX that is unusual. If not, why were they not more specific about it.

Somebody screwed this one up, he didn’t use an “assault weapon”.

Revealing that this crime was committed with a benign-looking weapon hurts their whole “we aren’t after your grandpappy’s shotgun, we just want to ban military-style weapons.”

Of course we know they want to ban all guns, but the current focus is on ARs and similar weapons. The fact that someone was able to commit a mass shooting with more basic weapons is a very bad thing for their current approach.

That makes sense.

But in Texas the gun grabbers will never gain control. Will be a war first.

I did notice some early news reports mentioned an AR type rifle for the Santa Fe shooting. I guess that reflects the average news reporter’s limits when describing weapons. (All are AR-15’s or AK-47’s)

“The Democrats have a big plan on confiscating all guns in the Republic but are clueless.....”

Don’t worry, they have no such plan, not at the national level anyway. I researched schemes for registration, confiscation, martial law, & presidential executive orders all during the 2016 campaign just to keep my blood pressure down. I concluded it’s not doable, at least not in the Australian manner (a nation with less than one tenth our population). For one thing, there’s no national registry like the Aussies have.

But there is a real danger - GVRO/Red Flag laws that are now being passed in the bluer states, where anyone can go to the po-po and denounce someone they don’t like as a deranged armed threat to others. No questions asked.

Po-po gets a GVRO then goes to denouncee’s house & seizes their guns. No warning, no due process. It’s a legal version of SWATing and unlike the latter, bears little penalty for making false statements to police/judge. California is currently the worst state for GVRO abuse.

Learn more and beware. Confiscation one citizen at a time is here.

A normal shotgun does not sound scary enough to liberals. Must be sawed off fully automatic glock assault shotgun.
