I guess I don’t understand government, ours specifically. Why couldn’t our President simply say to Wray and Rosenweasl during the meeting this afternoon. Guys, take 5 minutes, call your staff and have them hand carry those documents to Nunes before this meeting is over, or, submit your resignation. Either choice is fine and will be made before the end of this meeting.
I fail to see what is so hard. Guess I’m just slow.

BINGO!
I'm with you. This starts another bureaucratic exercise with lots of players. Also, an IG investigation will not reach the coup plotters who are former employees. A SC would have far greater power.
I keep wondering the same. They all ultimately report to Trump and all he should have to do is say “Release them now, today, else have your resignations on my desk in the morning.” Why hasn’t he, except maybe to play politics and beat them up every day?
I think Trump’s move using Kelly is the right call. Effectively, it’s the same as doing it himself right then and there, except it takes just a little longer. But by doing it this way he insulates himself from being accused of putting national security at risk by not having someone like Kelly reviewing it first before handing it over.
I’m betting Kelly makes few, if any, redactions, and likely turns over to Congress exactly what Trump would do if did it on the spot himself. But it’ll be much harder for the media to accuse Kelly of being careless with these documents than it would if Trump did it himself.
Because they would opt for getting fired so Congress could yell “obstruction” and impeach.
