Bloomberg: The question is do you want to pander to 'those' people? Bloomberg: Taxes or life? Which do you want to do? Take your poison.
So here is Bloomberg on stage with another global mandarin, Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. Bloomberg refers to low income individuals as those people and takes shots at the U.S. military and coal miners. He clearly reveals his arrogant, bullying worldview
Michael Bloomberg: Some people say, well, taxes are regressive. But in this case, yes they are. That's the good thing about them because the problem is in people that don't have a lot of money. And so, higher taxes should have a bigger impact on their behavior and how they deal with themselves.

Liberal billionaires think taxes should be increased on low income Americans.
Here’s where the GOP can attack them for stealing from the poor to give to them.
Oh the irony! Middle class, working stiffs and low income folks hardest hit.
Thanks Mike!
Michael Bloomberg once again personifies why people in flyover country negatively stereotype a particular subsection of humanity.
This is less about theft, which it is, than regulating behavior the left doesn’t like. Think soda tax.
God, I despise progressive thinking.
Nobody wants to see the poor have a huge tax burden. That being said you cannot support “Taxation without Representation” or it’s opposite “Representation without taxation”. Many of the problems faced by this nation are from a simple fact that only about 50% of the people pay all of the taxes. The other 50% just vote themselves more money and benefits. In a sense, Government grows because it feeds on tax dollars provided by the 50% whom vote for more taxes. Take away that ‘sheltered status’ and the concept of ‘others peoples money’ and the ship can be righted. So, the poor should be taxed, must feel the burden of Government, for the good of the republic.
While it may not be popular, we need to make sure every american is taxed, so we all feel government.
Bloomberg is your classic limousine riding Liberal. The majority of this countrys folks are no more than bugs that splatter on his windshield.
Look up elitist know-it-all and youll see his picture.
Flat tax, 15% everybody pays, dismantles IRS, simplifies the bureaucracy. Wasn’t that a conservative idea?
The liberal retort to that idea was that it is not fair to tax the poor. I know, I have had several arguments with people over that sticking point.
But I still think that a flat tax is a good idea because it gives everybody a chance to participate.
He's right for all the wrong reasons. EVERYONE should have skin in the game. Nearly 50% of the adult population pay, effectively, ZERO taxes.
That's great for the demonrat party; they are its base. Long term, it is a disaster for the future of the republic. We either need to enact a flat tax or consumption tax.
As a proportion of income after essentials are bought, this will mean poor people pay more of these sorts of taxes.
But we already favor the poor by not claiming gifts and welfare income are not income.
There is nothing unfair about flat or usage-based taxing.
So tax the poor and the rich in an equal way and incentivize everyone to make more money.
What sense of self value must a man have who believes that he must regulate what other people do?
My experience with people who want to control others is that something in their lives is out of control. They feel that if they can impose their will on others that somehow they will be able to conquer their out of control demon.
The reason low income folks aren’t taxed is it costs the government more to collect any taxes than it would gain in revenue.
So that’s why in practice they aren’t taxed. What they earn, in the words of the immortal Willie Sutton, “isn’t where the money is.”
That’s always been a fact of life.
While it may not be popular, we need to make sure every american is taxed, so we all feel government.
Agree. Everyone should have to put skin in the game. Even just a small amount.
This is why the U.S. needs a graduated wealth tax. I get so angers at those who have made their money calling for more income taxes. People who have struggled for years and finally start making money get taxed like those sitting on a mountain of wealth.

Unless you mean a national sales tax, you’re not talking about ‘everyone w/ skin in the game’.
NOBODY should pay $0% tax. EVER. Especially the ‘poor’, whom utilize govt more than the other economic strata.
I just think that, if a nation is to have income taxes, there is a civic duty for every citizen to pay some percentage of their income. We also have a 14th Amendment, so I don't see how it's Constitutional to make "the rich" pay a greater percentage of income than the middle class or poor.
He’s right for all the wrong reasons. EVERYONE should have skin in the game. Nearly 50% of the adult population pay, effectively, ZERO taxes.
Its worse than that. About 50% of the 50% that pay no taxes actually pay negative taxes; meaning they get back more from the IRS than was deducted from their paycheck. Sometimes as much as $8,000 ~ $10,000.
I have seen lots of women who felt powerless with regards to their husband’s behaviors. These women seemed to have a need to control the men. And then there are women teachers who need to control the students in the classrooms. And the football coaches who control the players. The attitude seems to be, “I am the boss and you are not.”
Blooming idiot deserves a good hard slap from a poor person.
Absolutely agree.
Even if it is a nominal amount, everybody pays something.
That would change some voting patterns in a heartbeat.
Everyone who is able-bodied should pay some form of minimum tax -- because everyone derives some benefit from living in this country and availing themselves of taxpayer-funded amenities.
Even the homeless guy living under a bridge actually HAS a bridge to liver under.
