If they want to come, they could hold out until a few days before the summit and do an about-face again after making WH scrambling to cope. They do this all the time. Should not be taken in this way. Each administration has its limitation. One hopes the President does not go wobbly as Thatcher would say, but see this through to an equitable conclusion, if it means a cancelled meeting and a return to max pressure, so be it. I’m not in the least worried about Trump getting rattled. There are reports that Kim is getting second thoughts because he fears a coup while he’s in Singapore. That sounds much more likely. As for Trump, he knows you always have to be ready to walk, and he says so all the time.
