When we vacationed last few years in Maine and Outer Banks when we went to restaurants, servers told us they have to bring people from Europe as american kids don’t want to work. Several new hotels and restaurants couldn’t open do to shortage.
Also, know many friends coworkers who don’t want their kids working at 16 and older. They want them to not be stressed and just do sports, music and have fun.
It is rare to see teenagers working anymore. I blame the parents of today who pamper their kids.
Wait!!! $18,000 for about 3 months of summer work, plus $12 per hour. That is about 13 weeks, at 40 hours per week, that means costing them $46 per hour. Makes no sense. If they are saying the foreign workers are costing them $34 per hour as opposed to the $12 they are trying to pay Americans, why dont they offer the $34 to Americans?!
Exactly!

No student loans without solid work history.
... No student loans for institutions that have not undergone a thorough (and then ongoing) comprehensive, clearly and cogently and honestly presented audit of all funds and programs. This must include all income and outgo, and it should be comprehensible by a typical high school graduate.
That is not 18,000 per worker, but for 20 workers. They each make 12.00 per hr = $480.00 a week =$ 6,240.00 per 13 wk. season (IOW 520.00 hrs x $12.00 per hour = 6,240.00), times 20 workers = $124,800.00 for the crew (IOW 10,400.00 total hours for total crew x $12.00 per hour = $124,800.00
18,000 more dollars amounts to less than 14.00 per hour (in round figures. 10,400.00 hrs x 1.73 = 17,992.0
