Mexicans — like much of the rest of the world — are quite racist. There’s a definite hierarchy, almost a caste system, with fair-skinned Spaniards/Europeans at the top of the heap. The “dreamers” are mestizos — part native Indio and part European — and native Indios. At the bottom of the caste system are blacks. There’s outright hostility toward them, and primitive black cartoon characters are still popular. Most Mexican TV stars and newsreaders are European in appearance, their hair dyed blond if necessary to complete the look.

Mexicans like to forget that their looks, their language, even a lot of their music originated in EUROPE....they speak spanish for pete's sake...
