Sounds great. Let’s move one or more bases from Germany.

The main reason we have been in Germany isn’t to defend them, it’s to put a stop to German aggression in the post WWII world.
Who exactly does Europe need defending from? They act like this is 1980. Meanwhile, they let in millions of moslems.
America first, that’s the only sensible idea.

Bitburg is back under German control, while Spangdahlem remains a NATO air base under American control. I spent 4 years with 6/56 ADA (Chaparral/Vulcan) from 77-81. My battalion was deactivated in the early 90s AFAIK.
We were responsible for the short range air defense of Bitburg (B Battery), Spangdahlem (A Battery and Bn HQ), and Hahn AB's (C Battery). We also had an Ordnance Detachment for systems repair. Our conventional motor support was out of Baumholder.
As a bachelor, I had a fair number of TDYs, such as an augmentee for Reforger 77 and Admin/Log XO at Todendorf during the summer of 79. Those 3 months at Todendorf were among the most fun of my life: I usually was acting CO as the CO was dealing with personal issues at home. We were the only Americans for 200 miles, and all of the newly divorced women on holiday in Lutjenburg fell in love with my soldiers...lol.
At C Battery at Hahn, I had both Chaparral platoons, and one of the Vulcan platoons, plus 6 months as (blech) Systems Maintenance Officer. I was kicked up to HQ during 79, where I was an Asst S-3, Asst S-4/Property Book Officer, and S-4 during my last year.
It was an unforgettable tour, leaving me with dozens of stories...that are interesting only to myself...lol.

Why to the UK? The UK is cutting down its defence budget. And especially once it leaves the EU it will cut the budget further

Our borders are not that secure - we have thick forests and mountains on the east and south east. And we have over a million Ukrainians and nearly half a million Bialorussians here.

Reposition every U.S. base in Germany to Poland and Romania. And some to Hungary and Czechoslovakia.
Agree about Romania and Poland being on the same page.
But the political scenes in Hungary and Czech Republic seem to exchange Soros stooges for equally bad Putin stooges. So a bit weary of those places. Too pro-Russia.
