The Republican tax cuts signed by President Trump repealed the Obamacare individual mandate tax nationwide, but New Jersey residents will be stuck paying it due to the states Democrat legislature and governor. Governor Phil Murphy on Wednesday signed the new tax into law that will impose the tax on residents who choose not to purchase qualifying health insurance as defined by Obama-era regulations.

LOL! The hardcore socialists are determined to crater the state just as fast as they can.
New Jersey is a stark warning of what will happen if the RATS prevail in November.
DOH!
Da Gov jes using this to make money for New Jersey, it does not, and cannot, benefit the national healthcare scam called “obamacare”.
It’s a back door to more taxes for NJ. Why the residents don’t move out, ‘en masse’, is a total mystery.
(but please, don’t move down here to the south and bring your liberal ways with you.)
Ive always said that when the federal government cuts taxes that opens up an opportunity for the states to increase them if they want. This just proves it. Next time elect Republicans at the state level too.
That's right. Bend over NJ, more TAXES INCOMING!
This will only make it harder to sell homes. I haven’t sold in 6 months.
I agree. I left Seattle for rural KY back in 2011 and history is proving it was exactly the right thing to do. In fact, my daughter and her husband who lived in the Ballard area of Seattle are moving to Louisville in July. They actually found a house and signed the paperwork. They are just so done with that cesspool.
I suspect a lot of folks in NJ will move out.
BTW, Once WFH hits critical mass, our cities will be in serious trouble and we could see a huge real estate boom in a lot of rural parts of the country.
Ahh yes, saw the construction photos today for my new house in PA. Thank you governor Murphy for validating my decision to vacate this poop hole and move back to PA.
And none of these taxes can be deducted from their federal tax returns for NJ residents since any of them who make much at all will already max out the $10,000 limit.
Another ‘Red State’ in the making.......................
Good for New Jersey. This is the way our Republic is supposed to work, with the most control at the lowest possible layer of government.
If New Jersey wants to tax themselves, they are welcome to do so.
It's not much different than what Mitt Romney did in Massachusetts a while back.
Wouldn’t this be un-Constitutional?
This was a federal mandate that exists no longer, but the state moves in to put the squeeze on its citizens anyway.
You get what you vote for, New Jersey....
Well, that’s about my luck, ho ho ho.
He’s turned into California without the good weather.
