As with everything it has been snowballing. Yes, it is getting more (insert here), but only more of the same. What is driving it has never changed, all that seems to have changed is that whatever resistance people had to acting this way has eroded and now is almost gone.

As for what is driving it, I look around and I’m seeing insanity take hold too.

I don’t know much about you, what you believe, but me I’m a Christian. So that’s my point of reference. The other day I read a piece by an avowed Leftist who wrote of the tribalism of people who think they’re cosmopolitan. Now his thesis is a good read so I’ll link to it ...

And if you look at society and it it looks like it’s going on then don’t be surprised to discover at the end of the day that it was going on is basically my thought.

As to what’s driving the escalation, many things, as you say, but I believe that the rise of the internet and other alternative media has played a role. That’s not a bad thing-a lot of the left’s fury is that they no longer have a lock on the propaganda in this country. I recall how, from the 60s and before, they were so pro-free specch—-right up until they noticed that the right also could access and make use of the new media. Then began the safe spaces, the “free speech zones”, etc, and even the home of the free speech movement of the 60s, Berkeley, is clamping down and calling for the suppression of “divisive” speech (and guess who gets to decide what is “divisive”, just as they would like to decide who is insane in the matter of gun control)?
