Did California Democrats sleep through election day?
L A Times ^

Posted on 06/06/2018 8:10:21 AM PDT by BenLurkin

Judging from Tuesday’s primary results, the “blue wave” in California means Democrats waving at their polling places as they drove by.

Final numbers on voter participation won’t be in for a while, but turnout seems unexceptional. With more than 97% of the precincts reporting, less than 21% of registered voters had cast ballots. That’s in line with the anemic turnout in the 2014 primary, and far, far below the five previous midterm election primaries.

Who said this year was special? Oh right — Democrats did.

The line from the national media echoed this making-lemonade-out-of-lemons paragraph by The Times’ Christine Mai-Duc: “Democrats in California appeared poised Tuesday night to avoid getting shut out of key congressional races for the November election, the most pressing risk they faced as they seek to retake control of the House.”

Yes, there were a lot of Democrats competing with one another to flip the six Republican-held U.S. House seats in districts won by Hillary Clinton in 2016. But not getting shut out isn’t exactly the same as “striking fear deep in the heart of Republican incumbents.” Democrats may remain within hailing distance in four of those seats, but the strongest candidate in each of them was from the GOP.

In fact, the only incumbent House member who didn’t come out clearly on top was a Democrat, Pete Aguilar in the Inland Empire, who trailed Republican Sean Flynn by less than 100 votes.

Drove to Ca. last week. Saw more U-Hauls heading east than west.

The number of eligible voters who choose not to vote have outnumbered any single political party for 100+ years even in presidential elections. The folks that care about politics enough to vote about it usually vastly overestimate the number of people who also care as much as they do.

Jeff Denham won his primary. Rino pushing amnesty vote. Pathetic. The #2 Republican was 850 votes shy of ‘crowding out’ the Democrat. WE SLEPT THRU IT.

It’s going Red, as in Red China.

The next governor will probably be the neo-Communist former mayor of San Fransicko

The Inland Empire strikes back.

Maybe some white California Democrats are beginning to realize that being a sanctuary state for illegals from Mexico and Central America, plus trying to avoid the excrement piles in your community from the growing hordes of homeless people, is not for them!

Orange County and San Diego County should spearhead a drive to become their own State. Heck, I might even move back.

The Democrat “We hate Trump” plan to drive turnout in this election will fail. Voters, especially Democrats, will take the effort to go to the polls when they have a positive motivation. Negative motivation will drive them to the bars, but not to the polls.

Does Cox have ANY chance? Pretty boy Newsome has blood on his hands regarding MS-13. Cox as Gov. will eventually appoint FienBlum’s replacement if she croaks.

I wish that were so, but think it more likely that voters in California have given up on voting.

BUT on a positive note, if Dem turnout in CA is this bad, all it would take is some really good motivating of the (admittedly small) Republican voting block to put Cali back in play!

If 80% of your enemy’s forces are parked, that enemy is vulnerable!!

And who’s a good motivator? Who can get the conservative voters energized? President Donald Trump, that’s who.

I wonder if Mueller’s failure to lynch President Trump caused the “democrats” to say “to hell with it”. When the commie libs want something, they want it NOW. IMHO, Mueller’s stretching out his Russki scam and fiasco is only helping the President.

Home Land Security is now watching for illegal aliens voting, that’s why there was such low turnout for the democrats in CA.
