“I have no idea why this particular actress would be cast. Honestly, why?”
I strongly suspect she was cast because she was Asian. Just about every major movie casts some asians because it increases sales in china and japan. In the case of TLJ it didn’t work since the movie was such a dog.
What? They didn't consider that Asian female thespian that sued IMDB because the site posted her DOB/age?
I seem to have heard somewhere that the Chinese own big theater chains in America and won’t show films that are down on China in any way. Maybe it was Arc Light.
I have watched several Asian movies that did not feature a single American actor, and I enjoyed them. My favorite is Hero with Jet Li. That was an awesome movie!
I’m not sure why our people would think that they have to cast an Asian in order to attract an Asian viewer. It’s the subject matter of a movie and sometimes the talent of the actors that attracts me, not the “diversity” of the cast.
I had seen another movie on Netflix or Amazon a while back. It was a horror movie shot in Hong Kong or maybe Korea, I’m not sure, but all of the main cast was American, and I was like WTF, they are so out of place in this movie. Why film there if you’re going to feature Americans? I don’t get it.
