A mysterious move by the Senate Wednesday night is part of a Justice Department inquiry into a former Senate Intelligence Committee aide who may have leaked classified information.

The Senate unanimously approved a resolution allowing the committee to provide records to the Justice Department in response to a request related to the investigation.

The aide's identity and the lawmaker for whom he or she worked is not clear, but on Thursday, The New York Times published an article saying that federal investigators had seized years' worth of email and phone records relating to one of its reporters, Ali Watkins.

Watkins previously had a three-year romantic relationship with James A. Wolfe, the Senate Intelligence Committee’s former director of security, The Times reported, adding that the records covered a period of time before she joined the paper.

Man, when I think about the hellfire that would have been brought down on me 25 years ago as an USAF officer if I had even released “For Official Use Only (FOUO)”, I have no sympathy for this individual. Here’s the deal: Work your issues through the chain of command but if that doesn’t work go public and deal with the consequences.

The MSM is going crazy right now - what about 1st Amendment? what about sanctity of the press? What about privacy? How can they do this?

If Wolfe was sending copies of classified documents to this reporter and others using encryption apps on his phone they are completely justified in taking her electronics because they may contain classified information.

Yes, I know they did not apply the same standard to Hillary, Huma, et al, but that does not mean they should look the other way.. They should enforce the law evenly and fairly.

If a reporter is receiving classified documents and/or classified information from a leaker it should not be any different than if you or I had classified information we were not supposed to have. I wonder if Schiff is nervous tonight?
