DOJ Reneges Commitment to Provide Trump Russia Docs to Congress

The Department of Justice reneged on a commitment to provide access to documents they promised to congressional lawmakers by Thursday morning. Instead, DOJ issued a press release after midnight suggesting they will only meet with a group of select lawmakers to discuss the matter on the same day the North Korea summit opens in Singapore, according to numerous sources and a DOJ statement.

Moreover, the Justice Department also issued new stipulations for briefing congressional members and limited the meeting with only the Gang of Eight, which is comprised of eight leaders within Congress who are briefed on classified intelligence matters.

“This is yet another line of obfuscation, stonewalling and delay tactics by the DOJ. They were supposed to deliver the documents to Congress Thursday and then at the last second did what they always do: fail to keep their commitment. Now they are waiting until the opening of the North Korea summit in an attempt to bury it from the public.”

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fl) told this reporter that the DOJ’s failure to produce documents has put both Congress and the American people in a seemingly never ending predicament that does more harm than good for the nation.

“It’s the same old games and Congress is facilitating this behavior by continuing this back and forth with the Justice Department,” said DeSantis. The lawmaker noted that Congress has the power of the purse and authority to follow through with the contempt proceedings against DOJ Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein.

So hey, anyone know how many U.S. Marshall's we have? And what they're up to? I know, no one wants to spend the summer in D.C., the swamp, but it'd be good practice for the zombie Apocalypse ...

Interestingly, today’s indictment of a Senate staffer for leaking information to the media actually reinforces the DOJ’s stance here.

I’m guessing the document was faked to try to keep Sally Yates, Andy McCabe, Peter Strzok and company out of prison.

I want a tweet storm from the Pres. I want him and Devin to rant all weekend. Then on Monday I want him to fire the top 5 positions in the DOJ. Just done!

It is time to send in the Marines, figuratively, of course. Trump needs to send in military investigators accompanied by as much force as necessary and secure custody of these documents. The DOJ is in open revolt and seems to answer to no master other than the swamp.

Enough with the bloody talk. ARREST THEM.

Isn’t there a SINGLE US Marshall that would deputize 1000 patriots to go in there and start arresting people. I’m sure that Gitmo, Leavenworth or Portsmouth have room. If not, Sheriff Joe can help set up a tent prison in Death Valley.

The FBI was created by Congress. All they have to do is refuse to fund and it is gone.

You might just see that, not necessarily on Monday but I believe he has been waiting for the IG report to come out.

Then he can say because of the information from the IG, and as Potus in charge of Justice Dept he will drain the swamp.

Congress needs to hold Sessions and all of them in contempt. President Trump as president needs to issue executive order directing DOJ and FBI to immediately release unredacted docs as requested to Congress. Give them until Monday, else resignations on his desk. President Trump can fix this and should.

I agree. The let them do it. Interestingly, that doesn’t make Congress immune from prosecution.

P.S. — I’m really ambivalent about this whole thing because I don’t trust Congress any more than I trust the DOJ.
