Posted on 06/14/2018 8:14:43 AM PDT by NRx
The New York State attorney generals office filed a scathingly worded lawsuit on Thursday taking aim at the Donald J. Trump Foundation, accusing the charity and the Trump family of sweeping violations of campaign finance laws, self-dealing and illegal coordination with the presidential campaign.
The lawsuit, which seeks to dissolve the foundation and bar President Trump and three of his children from serving on nonprofit organizations, was an extraordinary rebuke of a sitting president. The attorney general also sent referral letters to the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Election Commission for possible further action, adding to Mr. Trumps extensive legal problems.
The lawsuit, filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, culminated a nearly two-year investigation of Mr. Trumps charity, which became a subject of scrutiny during and after the 2016 presidential campaign. While such foundations are supposed to be devoted to charitable activities, the complaint asserts that Mr. Trumps was often used to curry political favor or settle legal claims against his various businesses, and even spent $10,000 on a portrait of Mr. Trump that was hung at one of his golf clubs.

Clintons first or there will be trouble.
Did they sweep incorrectly? Perhaps they used the wrong type of broom.
Quick! We got to make up some shirt to detract from that IG report!
Isn’t it amazing how blind they are to Obama’s and Clinton’s many felonies?
Meanwhile the Clinton Crime Foundation rakes in the dough and no one cares what illegal scams they pull to get it.
The NY AG is one ugly and bitter, hate filled leftist hag.
YUP....THIS is just BEGGING for a look at the CLINTON FOUNDATION.
The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won't settle this case!...@realDonaldTrump 11:09 AM - 14 Jun 2018
....Schneiderman, who ran the Clinton campaign in New York, never had the guts to bring this ridiculous case, which lingered in their office for almost 2 years. Now he resigned his office in disgrace, and his disciples brought it when we would not settle.
Held on to this until today? Distraction from the OIG report.
Yeah and then McLames and until that they can talk to the hand.
Most likely a fishing expedition designed to allow a free-roam rummage for dirt. The tactic is to file a lawsuit with a lot of flimsy allegations and get a biased judge to authorize discovery that is designed to get the supporting evidence.
Sick of this sheet already!
Get Crooked H, Huma, and the others doing hard time. THEY are the criminals, not DJT.
Funny, but the online article does not mention anywhere that the New York AG is a Democrat. Maybe internet electrons are getting too expensive.
Anything to ruin President Trump’s Birthday like they did last year!! I hate them to the core!! And where the f is our leaders?!! F them!! When do we storm their offices!!!
For those playing at home - New York applies the term Supreme Court to its lowest level court, not the highest as it would be used in most states or in the Federal courts.
I have no idea what the merits are on this, but NY is such a politically charged jurisdiction that you see a lot of wild investigations and prosecutions for political motivations. This was initiated under Schneiderman.
A loader full of artificial dirt just in time to distract/divert attention from the IG report coming out later today.
The lawsuit, which seeks to dissolve the foundation and bar President Trump and three of his children from serving on nonprofit organizations, was an extraordinary rebuke of a sitting president.
Yeah... sure. And not politically motivated at all, because we all know New York liberals (and liberals in general) are pure, and only motivated by the public’s best interests.
Yep - these losers are so transparent.
