There seems to be some consensus among the mainstream media and the political establishments of both parties that illegal immigrants are somehow a special class of people entitled to special protection under the law.

As I said on the Laura Bush thread, if we can accept that parents who commit other crimes get separated from their children upon detention/incarceration, why should there be any outrage about doing the same to illegal immigrant families? By definition, they're criminals too, and have no more right to have their families united during detention than any other criminal.

Breaking the law is now acceptable conduct. Can citizens break the law by not paying taxes? How much longer can our country survive?
