I didn’t bother with “Black Panther” and I also won’t waste any time on “Captain Marvel”

Lol, sexist and racist all in the same sentence. But its ‘PC’, so its okay and the media will like her for it.

She’s cold. She needs a big, strong man to keep her warm.

You’re talking about people talking about comics. That’s much more deep I guess.

It's part of the culture war. It seems dumb, but it is relevant. The Left is adept at using pop culture to advance their policies. I know the Right mostly wants to be left alone, but that approach is why we are in the mess we are in now. We can't ignore this stuff any longer, no matter how trivial it might seem.

This version of Capt Marvel can’t sustain an ongoing series. They keep rebooting and cancelling it, trying to make it “a thing.”
Marvel’s had a pretty good track record with movies about third tier characters (Ant-Man, Guardians), but those movies were marketed as funny and exiting, whereas this one seems to be aiming squarely for the “you have to see it or you’re sexist” crowd that drove the Ghostbusters remake straight into the bargain bin.

This is a discussion item on Free Republic???? Discussing fantasy characters and who is going to play them onscreen. And there is and actual dialogue going on?As Andrew Breitbart said, politics is downstream from culture. You can say "who cares," but these movies are designed to influence people into embracing the SJW narrative both culturally and politically.

Disney is bidding for Fox.
Once they take that over, the pace to ban all dissenting voices will accelerate.
Lost interest in Marvel movies after Ragnarok..

Capt Marvel is a DC character, not a Marvel.
How did Marvel get hold of him? Or is Disney banking on buying Fox for the DC universe?

You are probably correct!
but the same narrative is going in the press, TV, colleges, churches etc. Cartoon characters?

From what I remember of the comics, Capt Mar-Vell was indeed a Kree, who died and powers moved to Carol Danvers, US Air Force captain. She was Ms. Marvel for a while, and Captain Marvel as well.
There’s no “changing male characters to female” going on there.
In fact, when I first encountered Captain Marvel, she was a black lady named Monica Rambeau from New Orleans, and was in the Avengers. (I was into comic books from 1982/83 through 1992-1993)...
