Some things I’ve noticed with our local TV weather:

1. The temperature charts show the 60 and 70 degree ranges as ‘hot’.

2. In the summer the weather for next week is always 2-3 degrees warmer than it ends up as and they adjust the prediction down as a particular day draws nearer.

3. Normal weather events are presented with an air of anxiety and dread as if we’ve never before seen snow, rain, thunder, clouds, or fog in northern Wyoming.

4. Every pathetic drop of rain is breathlessly reported with a big “STORM WATCH” announcement. It’s the point that unless we hear the National Weather Service alert we pay them no mind.

We have the same thing here in Minneapolis-St Paul when the local TV weather people and newscasters start hyping up a major winter storm of borderline biblical proportions - and then it fizzles.

It’s called “Snowpocalypse” or “Snowmageddon”.
