President Donald Trump revealed on Thursday that First Lady Melania Trump was at the Southern border, visiting facilities detaining children who entered the country illegally.
The president revealed the nature of her trip during a cabinet meeting at the White House.
“It really bothered her … as it bothered me, as it bothered everybody at this table,” Trump said. “We’re all bothered by it.”
The First Lady’s Communications Director Stephanie Grisham spoke about the trip during the flight to Texas with reporters.
“She wanted to see everything for herself. … She supports family reunification. She thinks that it’s important that children stay with their families,” she said.
The First Lady is scheduled to tour two law enforcement facilities in McAllen Texas — The Ursula Border Patrol Processing Center and a Customs and Border Patrol/DHS intake center.
She first appeared at the New Hope Children’s Shelter, an HHS grantee facility run by Lutheran Social Services to care for the children.
During the visit, the First Lady asked the managers of the facility if the children were well cared for, educated, and had access to communicate with their parents or adult family members.
“This was 100 percent her idea. She absolutely wanted to come,” Grisham said. “She wants to see what’s happening for herself and she wants to lend her support.”

Totally agree with you...not bothered by it one little bit. But it is more of pandering to rabble rousing liberals, not illegals. It probably takes this issue off the front page for now, but you can be sure there’s another bogus issue waiting in the wings of the MSM. Anything to make sure the FBI and DOJ corruption as well as the on-going coup d’etat stay off the front page.

I'm not any more bothered by illegal immigrants being separated from their children than I am by any other criminal who is routinely separated from his or her children when detained or incarcerated. Nor should anybody else be bothered if they thought about this issue rationally.
Somehow, many if not most people have subconsciously assimilated the media narrative that illegal immigrants are somehow a special class of people who are entitled to more privileges and rights than any US citizen who breaks the law.

I can’t even wrap my head around this...how could they let her wear it...how she could think it was ok to wear it. I gotta seriously rethink my feelings for her...this was a ****ing lazy bullshit fashion move that anybody with half a brain would know would hurt her husband.
BINGO!! Well put. As you point out, simple logic says incarcerated criminals, male or female, are separated from their children all the time. Why are we according these particular criminals more rights than American criminals? It makes zero sense. None at all.

There are at present 2.7 million American Kids separated from their parents on the account of crimes the parents committed.
Every year 20,000 more American kids end up in foster homes because their parents commit crimes.
At what point are we going to start being concerned about these kids?
When a parent commits a crime they create two victims the one they robed and the kid they can’t take care of because of that.
I know it will bring on yet more hysterical, bad publicity, but she really went up in my opinion on this. I’ve rarely seen a better “f*** you” to the “press” and their ginned up, manipulative, lying propaganda and the assorted leftists trying to get her to turn on her husband. Remember she was not wearing this at the facility or at any time during her trip at the border. The message was obviously not for them. She wore this in Washington when she was leaving with just the press and the people going with her around. It’s clear who the message was intended for.
Frankly, at this point, I’m willing to applaud anyone who will give the dangerous, anti-American propagandists the finger. Yep, I’ve rethought my feelings about her too. I saw the article and thought she caved to the lying, no borders types who have threatened her and her son. Now I don’t think so. She will not be pushed around or told what to do it appears. She went to the border because she wanted to, not because of the B.S. propagandists or hysterical, threatening leftists.
Of course, most people will believe the narrative the leftist “media” tell them and that is unfortunate; I’m just talking about my personal feelings about her here.
