Someone, I can’t exactly recall who, has said it’s because he SOUNDS so off tone. He’s too coarse.
And I guess in that view the rest is dressing it up to make the objection sound better.
I’m not so sure I’d say it was just that.
Still, can you imagine if Trump were super suave and backdropped himself with halos, imagery like from Greek temples? Would they be fine with him then?
But instead Trump doesn’t trust Muslims enough, isn’t forward thinking enough, made his money by wheeling and dealing and so on. He talks about the establishment as a Swamp that needs draining. He sounds hopelessly like someone from flyover country ... as if he might actually be listening to us rather than to those who know better than we do. He’s a Deplorable and so are we.
In fact, I think Trump suffers in the eyes of the Swamp the reverse of what Billy Boy benefitted of: yes, Clinton was and is a horrible person but he stood for the right kinds of things and so he’s a great guy. Trump hasn’t done nearly what Bubba did but he’s standing for not just the wrong stuff but even the wrong people (which is apparently us) ... so he must be as bad as bad can be.
Hmmm...none of that really makes him bad from a Christian point of view. He is a coarse New Yorker playboy? But that would just be my secular opinion about him.
Seems like they got nothing. My guess is his politics is what leftist evangelicals do not like - but pathetically are trying to make it about our Christianity on the right. Which really pisses me off. Who do they think they are to abuse faith like that.
Humorous aside: I once over at Hannity pointed out that he talks like a guy from Queens and one poster who thing is acting like he’s this (white) guy with street cred mocked Trump for being a poser.
