In the world of satellites, it's inseparable from all Military Divisions. But I can see the need from a security stand point.
Nothing against the Army, being an old Army guy myself, but wouldn’t the Air Force make more sense for this?
I would think the Navy has the best skill set for long term missions. There is little difference between preparation to feed and care for the crew on a six month space mission or a six month submarine patrol.
Just received this awesome video. Check it out and enjoy.

IMHO, the final panel should say something like: ‘freedom is in our blood, we don’t pass it down genetically, but in the blood each generation spills to preserve it.’
I see no need or money for a space force. We need a border force as well worth the money. And such a needed.
The Space Force will be dominated by the Air Force, as hinted at in the first sentence of the article. But, given that the Army is the biggest user of space, it makes sense it’s going to be heavily involved (I never would have guessed that in my old days in the Army!).
Do you want to know more?
Mobile infantry made me the man I am....
You think that a space -based force is not already in the works and functioning? This is just an awakening moment. Dark project that has has been given trillions over the past 4-5 decades.
Testing new tagline
So what is the purpose? I only see it needed to keep privately funded, leftist rockets and satellite weaponry from stealthily taking over...any other reason?
It’s not going to happen.
Only if there are big bad alien bugs to kill. Then it’s Marines (or Men in Black). LOL!
“More than 70 percent of the Army’s major weapons and equipment need satellites to function.”
Hmmmmm..... If literally true, does anybody other than me see a potential problem here?
Whoever the members of the Space Force are, if I were them, I would not let them issue me a red shirt!
Securing the high ground.
