Republicans Look to Compromise The Supreme Court, Avoid Controversy in Election Year
Freedom Outpost ^ | July 8, 2018 | Dean Garrison

Posted on 07/08/2018 3:32:58 PM PDT by Cheerio

In recent days, there has been a strong media push for Raymond Kethledge to be Trump’s choice to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Judge Kethledge is currently a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was nominated by George W. Bush in 2007 and confirmed a year later.

The Sixth Circuit has a reputation for not only being too liberal, but being so liberal that they are reversed more often than any other court. According to Mark Walsh of ABA Journal:

Conservatives decry the 9th Circuit’s perceived liberal bent. As candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, Newt Gingrich practically recommended abolishing the circuit, while Rick Santorum suggested that its judges be banished to Guam.

But more recently, another federal circuit has reigned as the most reversed. The 6th Circuit, based in Cincinnati, has had a particularly dismal record before the high court. In the seven Supreme Court terms completed since the fall of 2005, the 6th Circuit has been reversed 31 out of 38 times, for an 81.6 percent reversal rate, based on figures compiled by two Philadelphia lawyers. That leads all the federal circuits for that time period, with the 9th Circuit coming in as the second most reversed—100 out of 128 cases, or 78.1 percent.

Always with the GOPe COMPROMISE and REACH ACROSS THE AISLE BULLSHITE - particularly if an election is around the corner. This RINO political party needs to be put out of it's misery. I want Trump to form a new party, kick the old GOP to the curb just like the WHIGS.

The leftslime does not compromise.
Should the Repubs try it, they will reap the consequences.

Kethledge is so pro illegal immigration that he may be supportive of totally open borders. A very bad pick, if that come to be DJT’s choice - it wouldn’t be his first bad pick, but it could be the worst ever.

it would be helpful to know, of all the times the 6th Circuit has been reversed, how many times did Kethledge vote with the majority?

Kethledge sided with fellow 6th Circuit Justice Gilbert Merritt to reverse the decision and allow Nguyen to stay. The court opinion, with additional background, can be read here.

Click that link and you'll see that Kethledge read the law correctly.

Everything but everything is about re-election. The Constitution and we the people mean nothing to the career politician.

Everyday I despise them more and more.

Spine transplants needed immediately.

Worried too much about staying on the government teat.

Not interested in doing the job they were hired to do.

the little blog blurb doesn’t support the provocative blog headline. and it doesn’t actually cite a source or quote anyone in a position of knowledge.

AND, it contradicts just about everything else I’ve read about DJT’s choice.

I’m calling fabrics.

Precisely true.

Can’t anyone learn anything?
A magazine cartoon showed two distinguished looking men sitting by shelves of books. “It’s true those who don’t learn from history repeat it, but we who know history have to sit through their ruining everything for us again.”

G.H.W.Bush trusted the Dems and came out of a secret meeting to announce No New Taxes, thinking they were with him as they swore to him. Actually they tricked him and all along set him up and let him out alone so they could jeer him and win elections.

RINOs reach across the aisle, give-in,compromise, lose for the good of the people, and the Dems NEVER do that. Dems win even when the ballots say they lost. Dems are still in charge today (delays on appointments, no Wall, and on and on).

Schumer and McConnell are praying to their idols and offering dark sacrifice that President Trump picks Kethledge.
