How Entertainment Shows Have Become Vehicles for Gun Control Propaganda
townhall.com ^ | 7/16/2018 | John Lott

All of the major television networks use their primetime entertainment shows to push a pro-gun control agenda. Liberal television executives apparently think that they have the power to change Americans’ attitudes.

Not liking guns has been portrayed as cool for a long time. It is an old theme that dates back to the original 1980s MacGyver series, in which the titular character avoids using guns and expresses his aversion to them. This theme has continued with the current remake.

But the push to sway public opinion really seems to have picked up. This spring on ABC’s “The Crossing,” the sheriff’s young son says, “I don’t like guns” when a deputy suggests he may someday replace his father. The deputy appears discomforted by the exchange.

Even "walking dead" and peace seeking "Coral"(rip Coral). And the ever present "See who it's registered to." line in a lot, if not most, cop shows. Even thought most places "registration" is not a requirement. Add in false stats and outright lies and voila. Those that are uninformed buy it lock stock and barrel.

It has been going on a long time and not just for gun control.

Just about every liberal social agenda is pushed and pushed strongly.

Two of the early shows which were especially bad on gun control were “Hawaii Five-o” and “McGyver” in both cases the main actor was also a gun control freak.

“Not liking guns has been portrayed as cool for a long time. It is an old theme that dates back to the original 1980s MacGyver series...”

Even before that in the Andy Griffith Show.

Yet people keep paying for cable (or Netflix). Paying the enemies of good to help them destroy it.

Goes back even further to the time of Streets of SF which had many references to the “danger” of evil handguns. Another somewhat anti gun show earlier was the original Hawaii 5-0.

I still like the original 5-0 until the last few seasons.

MacGyver never did much for me.

Not really seeing a gun control message on Walking Dead.

And I’ve heard, it’s virtually obligatory, to have a homosexual character on sitcoms nowadays. Why do they do this, if not to push an agenda?

And what of the late night “comedians”? How many jokes did they ever tell about Obama? Why is it, that all their jokes are liberal; that you have to be liberal to think their jokes are funny?

How many shots have they ever taken at Obama or Hillary or “
Democrats in general, vs. Trump and Republicans and conservatives???

ALL politicians provide tons of fodder for potential jokes. But clearly some, such as Obama, are considered off limits.

I never thought the origins MacGyver was a gun control freak. He did not like guns and never used them BUT that meant mcgyver devices out of stuff to succeed which was the whom premise of the show. I have noticed most tv series are based in NYC, DC/MD, and CA. the phrase “the gun was registered to...” Would not apply in most of the rest of the states.

As they have for almost every other liberal and SJW cause. From immigration & multiculturalism to gun control and ‘me too’ Just like our schools and Hollywood and TV have become little more than indoctrination centers.

Streets Of San Francisco did pick on handguns a few times.

It is still a very good series.

Letters From The Grave, 45 Minutes From Home, 24 Karat Plague, Deathwatch, Inferno, Most Deadly Species, Judgement Day are among my favorites.

Towards the end and “Coral’s” demise, it seemed he was leaning to laying down weapons and working it out with Nagin(sp). At least that’s the way I took it. But, maybe not the series in general. Then on FTWD the guy with the staff doesn’t really like firears. At least since he transferred from WD to FTWD. Anyway............... LOL! Keep ‘em lubed just in case.

Nothing new. Watch closely and in HQ you’ll see an anti-NRA poster in Lethal Weapon 2.

There was an early episode of “Five-o” which took it to laughable extremes.

Some evil guy had smuggled a few .25 automatics into Hawaii and they immediately caused a crime wave. Literally showed people, for instance the Postman, find one of the little pistols and do a “Jeckel and Hyde” transformation.

I mean as soon as the guy finds the gun and picks it up, his face distorts into evil.

McGarret finally finds them all and stops the crime wave.

It’s only Propaganda if people watch.

I’m probably not the only one that has turned off the TV and quit going to movies in recent years.

It’s all pure political and social justice crap that I have zero interest in watching.
