According to this, there is no statute of limitations in canada.

WOW, that’s amazing to me. Thanks for researching!

Years ago in the law firm I worked at we looked up the state laws on age to be able to get married. One Southern State had no minimum age. Maybe it was South Carolina too, but I can’t remember.

I totally agree. We need to know more before passing judgment.

Until we have found all the adults who rape minors possible, convicted the ones where sufficient evidence can be found, beaten to death with a rusty tire iron, and given their bodies over to the crows and the maggots.

Lets be clear.

We aren’t talking about cheating on taxes. We aren’t talking about stealing some object or a punch in the nose.

We are talking about raping kids.

The travesty is not that they can face justice years later.
The travesty is that these sick perverts aren’t dead.

His lawyer will probably hire some quack psychiatrist who'll declare the guy to be so brain compromised as to be unfit for trial.

HAHA! But seriously, is there no statute of limitations?

In the US the statute of limitations "clock" doesn't run while you're living in a state other than the one in which the alleged crime occurred. The same could be true in Canada...leave the province where the crime occurred and it stops.

So that punishment should be called upon for 18,19, or 20 year olds who have had sex with their 16 or 17 year old girlfriend?
There was a time when it was common for a girl to marry and start a family when she was 15 to 17 years old. Now they can’t have sex till 18 and then they can become a Porn actress. I guess this is what is called progress.

And that is why we have statutes of limitations. And jury trials. And the presumption of innocence, and the requirement to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Good Lord ... if all we have is "Smith says Jones committed unspeakable acts" forty years ago and "Jones denies any such thing occurred" ...

I'm going with Jones. An accusation is not evidence. Prove it.

EXACTLY - that’s my point. It can be ANY of us. All it takes is someone with a grudge, or someone playing a ‘practical’ joke, and our lives are ruined. Think about it, there are 80 million or so women in the country who hate Trump, probably 10,000 of them can make a credible claim of having been reasonably close to him (working for one of his companies, etc.). Of those, especially in NYC, 9,000 hate him as a politician and potential president (they loved working for him, though). Then 20 of them decide to make up crap about him, and he’s SUNK as a candidate?

What about the next guy who runs as a Republican, or even a Democrat. Drag out 20 people who don’t like him from his past and sink him too? Clarence Thomas, anyone?

That’s why I will NEVER believe any of this crap without EVIDENCE from that time period, such as police reports, court records, or other real-time complaints. Sure the guy may have been a monster, our justice system is designed to protect the ones that are not monsters, and if people who have a motive to take down others make that claim, they sure as hell better be able to back it up, and if they don’t appear to have a motive, I still won’t believe them, years later - because they may have a motive that I’m not aware of.

Yes. The Fifth and Fourth Amendments are there to protect the INNOCENT from government abuse.
