That’s a lot of words to say “yep we did it.”

My wife and I give to a Muslim child in an Islamic village in Africa. Through World Vision.

As I understand it, operational activities with funding take place at the family and village level. With WV funding. So if the U.S. gave a big block of money to Islamic group X, the funding nevertheless would be put to use, on the ground, for a goat or chickens or blanket or shirts for a child and family who lacks them.

A World Vision person, as I understand it, personally sees to the case-by-case actions with WV funding.

I could be wrong.

World Vision is a good Christian organization, as I see them. They have done a couple of dumb things in recent years. They are Christian but have chosen to not be evangelically Christian in their approach to aid and relief.

Compare with Compassion International, which shares a more explicitly Christian face on the ground in its operations.

All this for what it’s worth.

Both World Vision and Compassion International follow the business model of individual child sponsorship. You see little pamplets with a photo of Sally. You sponsor Sally. You send Sally a monthly monetary gift and perhaps letters. Sally writes to you occassionally. Sally gets a cow or shoes or whatever.
