But it might not have been very high up when it crashed...
I wonder about the ‘no one’ killed comment. Normally, on crashes of this type, there is normally quite a few people killed.
But it might not have been very high up when it crashed...
...
I would say they are lucky that the airport is surrounded by open, treeless fields.
Embraer 190 a/c
First statement from a survivor of AM2431. The aircraft tried to reject take-off beyond V1 due to bad weather and failed to stop, crashing at the end of the runway and bursting into flames.
Someting Juang?
They tried avoiding fiery crashes on takeoff by filling the tanks only 1/4 full and hypermiling.
The incident involved Flight 2431 aboard the Embraer 190 aircraft. Mejia said the plane
which Aeromexico confirmed had 97 passengers and four crew members aboard “made it off
the ground, but fell nose-first.”
According to FlightAware, the Aeromexico flight took off on time at 3:08 p.m. local time.
It was headed to Mexico City, where it was scheduled to land at 4:38 p.m.
Officials and witnesses differ on whether the plane either fell shortly after takeover
or ran off the runway without really gaining altitude. But they agree the plane was
trying to take off during a storm.
