Good change.
Consensus is the antithesis of science.
Consensus once said that the earth was flat and bleeding a patient could heal him.
And doses of Mercury would cure the clap.
When the first railroads were built there was a consensus that the human body cannot withstand sustained speeds above 30MPH.Chuck Yeager would have a big laugh over that. The Baseball Hall of Fame has an excellent exhibit on the history of the Negro Leagues. One artifact I remember was an excerpt from a medical journal published at the end of WW2 arguing against integrating the Major Leagues because Blacks are athletically INFERIOR to Whites. This is what settled science, a consensus told us a relatively short 73 yrs ago. Never mind Jesse Owens, Joe Louis, Wilma Rudolph, Satchell Paige, etc already blew that myth to smithereens. Which shows another problem with settled science. Factors unrelated to the subject matter at hand can skew the findings. Whether it was the ugly spectacle of prejudice in the not always good old days or the need to push an agenda for political and financial gain.
