Very true! At the same time, they could have a recall election, or the council could simply shun him at the meetings until his trial is concluded.
But I do wonder at the wisdom of not having him “stand down” as a council member while the litigation is pending. Consider what would be done if the guy were a cop. Would he not be taken off duty?

I don’t believe recall elections are constitutional here in PA. I can’t ever recall one anyway. Only a State Supreme Court judge who lost a regularly scheduled ten-year vote on retention.
