Most of the liberals in Florida are Yankees who come down and vote like they were still in New York. Also a large number of Haitians, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans.
The Cubans who came in after Castro are generally conservative. It is the later ones such as the Marialistas who vote liberal.
There are also a certain number of native Floridians who are second or third generation who still retain their former state’s beliefs.
Their children trend liberal.
