In 94 I watched the price of a Garand go from as low as $150 steadily climb to 1600 by October then crash back to 350 after the election. Clinton &Co. had been making noises like they really meant to do a Confiscation. It killed his progress.
Yep, I remember that stuff. The AWB really stirred people up and got them to vote. Honestly, that mid-term election night ranked right up there with '80 and '84 for me - only 2016 eclipsed those for pure viewing pleasure.
Remember the incident in late October, 1994, where Francisco Duran emptied an SKS carbine at the White House? Mere days before the polls opened? I still think that was an attempt to blunt the pro-gun vote.
There was a great post-election political cartoon that I've never been able to find online - it showed a huge smoking revolver (labeled "the voters") off to the side, and a huge bullet (labeled "election results") lodged in an outer wall of the White House. Bill's thought balloon, from inside the Oval Office, read something like: "Woah... that was no potshot."
