The boyfriend was at a construction site 100 miles away at the time.

Statistically speaking the boyfriend is likely.

In this case, he may very well have had nothing to do with it and has his whereabouts elsewhere at the time accounted for.

Good for him.

This case is a strange one for sure. I have been in that area (Grinnell) and it is essentially the middle of nowhere. You can be on a deserted road in minutes.

Keep in mind that someone else from the University of Iowa considered her his girlfriend, or even a stalker from her California high school.

The boyfriend was cleared because it was established and well-proven that he was out of town at the time she was abducted.

His work was about 100 miles away, less than a three-hour round trip at highway speeds. Do they have an entire timeline for him being 100 miles away? Because a three-hour gap is all he would need. Less at 60-70 MPH.

Maybe.

However, every jogger I see with a big dog gets yanked over as the dog runs over to see me.

But I love dogs, and they seem to know it

Two hours (plus) each way and time to do the deeds. Really think LEOs didn’t figure out that timeline?

The boy friend was 100 miles away, at work, with witnesses, and passed a lie detector test. Doesn't sound like he's the perp.

People keep saying 100 miles like it's a given that he couldn't have done it. Were people with him 24/7? 100 miles about a 3-hour round trip at highway speeds.

Less at 60-70 MPH.

Sorry, got my numbers off. 60 MPH would be 3 hours and 20 minutes. So a three to four-hour gap is all he needed. Was someone around him all night long, or whenever he was off the job?

Definitively? No. I don't. Really, was someone with this guy all night long? Or whenever he was not on shift?

Considering the boyfriend and her brothers were officially cleared I don’t know any reason why any of them should still be under any suspicion.

That poor kid. I hope it was over quickly for her. *SIGH*

Now, let’s let Law Enforcement do their job...and find the SOB who killed Mollie!

I kinda think the boyfriend is guilty, too. :( Glad to see the local LEOs keeping a tight lid on this one.

Who knows how the police operated here? If I suspected someone, but couldn't prove it, maybe I'd be motivated to "clear" someone officially, but keep track of their movements, in the hope that they'd screw up and give up something they wouldn't have if they were officially still under suspicion. We don't know. All I'm saying, is that without a complete timeline of the boyfriend's activity and alibis, all he needed was a three to four-hour window unobserved. I was asking how they knew for certain there was not a big enough gap in his timeline for this to have occurred.

I'm not hoping it was him, I don't have anything against him. He doesn't come off as creepy or suspect in anything I read about him. It's just that the odds are more likely for it to be him, than a stranger.

Indeed I am impressed by how they’ve put a lid on it and managed to keep it shut.

somebody tell the Deep State that it IS possible.

I still think it’s the boyfriend.
