Could Menendez be the lone N.J. Democrat to lose in Trump midterm?
NJ.com Advanced Media ^ | August 22, 2018

New Jersey could have a tight Senate race this fall. A Quinnipiac University Poll released Wednesday put U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez ahead by just six points over former Celgene Corp. executive Bob Hugin, 43 percent to 37 percent, among registered voters.

In March, a Quinnipiac poll had Menendez leading by 17 points, 49 percent to 32 percent.

"As Sen. Robert Menendez sees his once-dominant lead whittled down to single digits, New Jersey voters are sending a clear message," said Mary Snow, polling analyst for the Quinnipiac poll. "They are troubled by the ethics cloud hanging over him."

Yes, but it is unlikely. The county to watch is Middlesex County. Hugin is a pharma exec. That’s a no no.

Really? Isn’t big pharma huge in NJ, jobs-wise? I believe it’s a substantial contributor to NJ being among the top 3 highest per capita income states in the country.

Oh yeah, Menendez has an add out today knocking him formbeing a pharma exec. The hilarity ensued when the add said, in the usual ominous voice “and he (Hugin) sold drugs for cheaper to RUSSIA.”

What does it matter ? A NJ republican is a democrat anyway.

An east coast Democrat says “you can have 1 bullet” and an east coast Republican says “You can have 2 bullets but you must wait a year for each one.”

Its payback for the tax raising orgy the Democrats and Murphy have going on

Plus Menedez is seen at a corrupt pervert who should be gone.

The only negative thing they can find on Hugin is that he was a Pharma exec? Does Menendez know that Pharma is the biggest employer outside the government in New Jersey? And provides the highest wages making NJ usually in the top three in wage earners year over year for the past three decades?

Yea Dumbocrats, go with that

BACKSTORY--HHS' Sebelius Testifies She Felt Menendez Wanted Her To ‘Take Some Action’
The Daily Caller ^ | Oct 4, 2017 | robert donochie
FR Posted on ?10?/?5?/?2017? ?7?:?35?:?09? ?AM by bitt

Former Health and Human Services Administrator Kathleen Sebelius testified Tuesday in Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez’s federal corruption trial, saying she felt at one point he wanted her to “take some action.”

Prosecutors allege Menendez used his political power to lobby Sebelius and others on behalf of a Florida eye doctor who overcharged Medicaid by nearly $9 million, reports Politico. In exchange for Menendez’s efforts to save the doctor from “punishment,” prosecutors charge the doctor lavished him with massive political donations and extravagant trips.

The trial focused Tuesday on whether Menendez did take a bribe from the doctor, Solomon Melgen, who is a co-defendant in the trial, or whether Menendez was legitimately using his position as senior senator from New Jersey to work out a policy issue regarding Medicaid billing. Sebelius answered questions Tuesday about a meeting she had with Menendez and then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in August 2012 that struck her as notable at the time. BACKSTORY---Obama HHS cabinet official describes 'unusual' request from Menendez (and Harry Reid)
The Enquirer ^ | October 03, 2017 | Andrew Seidman
FR Posted by ptsal

***snip*** Kathleen Sebelius thought it was strange when then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid summoned her to his Capitol Hill office in August 2012 to meet with Sen. Robert Menendez over what she understood to be a Medicare billing dispute involving a Florida doctor.

“I think it’s the only time I was asked to discuss a practice involving a billing issue” involving the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Sebelius testified in federal court here Tuesday. It was also unusual, she said, for Reid, “to ask me to come to a meeting involving another member of Congress.” (Excerpt) Read more at philly.com ...

BACKSTORY-----POLITICO revealed that Menendez's co-defendant, Dr Melgen, assiduously courted President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, but that Melgen was unhappy with the return on his campaign donation "investments."

After meeting briefly with Obama at a 2010 fundraiser that Dr Melgen paid $30,400 to co-host, the eye doctor complained that “Obama didn’t even give him the time of day,” according to a source who travels in the same Miami political circles as Melgen.

The source said Melgen also expressed frustration that he couldn’t take his concerns about his questionable Medicare billing practices directly to Obama’s Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius.

“He was ranting about HHS and Sebelius not understanding and not wanting to listen to him and not giving him a hearing,” said the source, who did not want to be identified WRT revealing the contents of private conversations.

Dr Melgen and friend.

Menendez trial: Senator failed to disclose gifts from co-defendant Melgen
North Jersey ^ | 8/20/17 | Nicholas Pugliese
FR Posted by Libloather

Jurors at U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez’s corruption trial heard how the senator failed to list a series of gifts he received from his co-defendant between 2006 and 2010, including six round-trip flights, a $875 livery service and a $4,934 stay at a Paris hotel, on his annual financial disclosure forms.

In painstaking detail, prosecutors pointed out that the gifts from Salomon Melgen, a wealthy Florida ophthalmologist and longtime friend, did not qualify for reporting exemptions and that Menendez had acknowledged with his signature that the reports were “true, complete and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.”

Former aide testifies Menendez helped co-defendant on visas
ABC News ^ | Sept 11, 2017 | David Porter
FR Posted by ptsal

A former staffer for U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez testified Monday that the Democrat helped with the visa applications of friends of a wealthy doctor who faces bribery charges with him, while defense attorneys sought to show Menendez’s actions were unremarkable and part of the duties of his office.

Under direct questioning from the government, former senior policy adviser Mark Lopes testified Menendez emailed him in 2008 authorizing a letter of support from Menendez to be sent to consular officials regarding the visa applications of two sisters from the Dominican Republic.

*snip*

Earlier Monday, a vice president for American Express testified Melgen used about 650,000 AmEx points to pay for a Paris hotel room for Menendez in 2010. Menendez had about 58,000 points in his AmEx account at the time, and prosecutors want to show he tapped his wealthy friend in order to stay in a $1,500-per-night hotel as part of the bribery scheme.

Harry Reid Sought White House Help for Menendez Donor, DOJ Says
bloomberg.com ^ | 8/31/2017 | David Voreacos and Neil Weinberg
FR Posted by rktman

U.S. Senator Robert Menendez, in trying to help a campaign donor who was accused of overbilling the government, enlisted then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to “amplify the pressure” on the Obama administration, the Justice Department said.

Reid contacted a White House staffer, who declined to help, prosecutors disclosed Wednesday in a court filing.

Menendez, a New Jersey Democrat, faces a corruption trial next week with Salomon Melgen, a Florida eye doctor and close friend accused of bribing him with hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions and lavish trips in exchange for his help on government disputes.

Menendez “enlisted” Reid in November 2011 to help pressure the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, known as CMS, to reverse its ruling that Melgen owed $8.9 million for overbilling Medicare. Reid contacted a White House deputy chief of staff, prosecutors said.

“At that time, the Majority Leader reached out to the White House Deputy Chief of Staff, informing her that Menendez was upset about how a Florida ophthalmologist was being treated by CMS and asking that she call the agency,” according to the 30-page filing.

While that’s true, sadly Collins today keeps the Senate in GOPe hands, which is marginally better than allowing the RATS to run it.

Hugin is no conservative, but he’s better than Menendez and is another vote for the Republican majority. He will vote for Trump’s judges and also to cut taxes. We will vote for him here because anything is better than Menendez. The real trick will be if the Dems pull another Torricelli/Lautenberg switch if Menendez drops further.
