Why Is the Government Telling Us How to Raise Our Kids?
National Review ^ | 26/12/16 | Abby Schachter

Posted on 08/27/2018 4:09:56 PM PDT by Eleutheria5

The headline says it all: “Proposed Bill Would Expand Parents’ Rights, but Critics Say It Goes Too Far.” What exactly is too far when it comes to parents’ rights? In the case of this story from Fort Worth, Texas, it means that “critics” think parents shouldn’t have the right to know what their children are doing at school. Opposing this belief is Texas state senator Konni Burton, who authored the legislation. She believes that parents should be allowed access to their kids’ personal information, rather than protecting their child’s alleged right to privacy.

The fact that legislation is necessary to correct the imbalance between parents’ rights and the separate, independent rights of their minor children is one of the defining characteristics of our current age, one in which the government at all levels has become involved in the private lives of families, dictating child-rearing standards and penalizing parents who do not follow the rules. This condition of overbearing state interference in the lives of families is pervasive, though not coordinated, and is the central reason I wrote my book No Child Left Alone: Getting the Government out of Parenting.

The range of activities and choices that have been taken out of the hands of parents only to be decided from on high by politicians, school administrators, and unelected bureaucrats and regulators range from the seemingly innocuous — allowing kids to play unsupervised — to the nearly barbaric — removing children from their parents’ custody because they are obese. The government is telling women what to do with their bodies in the form of pressure to breast-feed, while government departments like the Department of Agriculture and regulatory agencies like the Consumer Product Safety Commission are making life less tasty by restricting the diets of American schoolchildren and less fun.....

So that they will plug into the Matrix quite nicely.

Why is the government telling us how to raise our kids?

One word answer: control. Democrats want control over you and your kids right down to the type of light bulb you are allowed to choose, the type of toilet you are allowed to choose, and what type of straw you are allowed to choose.

Yep. Children for the State, people for the State, all for the State and the State for those who run it.

The Left and too much of the Right really view us as subjects, if even that (”objects” might be closer to the truth of the Left’s attitude, for the real citizens/subjects are the abstract entities to which we objectified persons are assigned) things for our functional benefit and nothing more.

Control, control, control.....it’s all about control.
GOPe = RAT = UniParty = DS = Communist
They are ALL the same!
The UniParty want to have full control of the “unwashed masses” (that’d be us). We are their slaves. They are our Masters (so they think). We are nothing but cattle to them. They milk us every April 15th.

Why? They're just getting used to the time when they can totally enforce how we raise our kids.

That light bulb attack by Democrats may have health consequences.

Did you know LED bulbs are sold everywhere. But incandecents are limited, and sometimes in light output.

The human body needs light from HEAT like the sun or fire. Hence LED blue light can make you sick.

Burn a candle nearby for the evening and see if you feel better than LED only.

“One word answer: control”

Dang right.

That explains the whole progressive concept.

Remember how the left wanted Elian Gonzales back to Cuba to be reunited with his father. The kid went back to Cuba and sent to a work/school farm.

Think about all the aspects of our life they have already been taken over. I don’t think we are gonna make it and stay free.

Because welfare and socialization of costs made it everyone else’s business.

If you have to pay for your own mistakes, whether an illegitimate child you choose to keep or failed business, then your decisions are your own.

If the rest of us have to pay for the child’s care and upkeep, the rest of us get a say in how you raise it.

You see the same thing in healthcare. If the rest of us have to pay your medical bills, we get a say in what you eat. What liberals overlook is that if we have to pay for your STD treatment, we could also restrict your sexual activity. After all, HIV and Hepatitis C treatment passes 100K and we’re lecturing people over the cost of obesity.

Well with all too many people who are incapable of, or unwilling to raise/rear children, the government becomes the defeat parent. This is a sad commentary on the moral fabric of America and feeds the “it takes a village” progressive movement.

Four of the largest bodies of fresh water on the suface of the earth lap up on the shores of my state.

I recycle all my water; it comes out of the ground on one side of my property, and goes back into the ground on another side.

Yet still, I am required by law to use a low-flush toilet.

Agreed.. we are too lazy to do it ourselves. And we love our stuff. The left set us up nicely by equality they mean bring a mans pay down to a womens pay after she took off a few years for the kids.. Now its 1 persons pay cut in half.
Typical equality. I dont know how these kids will make it.. except the ones who live off their parents.
