We're on an indispensable learning curve.
First, we're finding the true and traditional limits of the power of the papacy: the Pope speaks as Peter when he defends Scripture and capital-T Tradition, "strengthens the brethren" in upright Christian living, and throws the damn wolves-in-shepherds-clothing out of the sheepfold.
And if he doesn't do that, then he deserves a stern "Get thee behind me, Satan."
Second, we're learning the ultimate responsibility of the laity. Don't flee: stay and fight. Don't leave: lead.
Yes, we're working out a strong "development of doctrine" in the sensus fidelium --- the Church Militant in defense of Holy Mother the Church.

That is how Catholic will vote on this latest scandal - by walking away. It is already happening. Churches in my diocese are less than half full. We will probably close one third of Parishes in the next 3 years. The Bishops have done nothing to keep the flock together.
As Mad Dawg says:
>>>So, maybe,
The thing to do is to gather the group of resistors, people who will make commitments to escrow their money, make lay-run funds to which bishops can apply for help with the heating bill.
Then we show up in Balto. and splain to their excellencies what were about to do if we dont see something better than the tripe theyve been trying ol feed us.
Earlier this week, on Facebook, some abbot tried to pull rank on me over discussing PapaFrans capital punishment teaching. I said, more or less, Father Abbot, this is not the week or the month, or maybe the decade to pull rank on the laity.<<<
—pull rank on the laity. Ha!!
