Actress Kate Mara has ties to the NFL, being the great-granddaughter of Giants founder Tim Mara and Steelers founder Art Rooney.
Her uncle is also Giants' co-owner John Mara, which is why she was asked about the NFL's new anthem policy that John Mara helped form in an interview with Variety.
"I believe everybody has a constitutional right to stand, or kneel or sit during the national anthem," she said.
The new policy states that any players that are not on the field or standing for the national anthem on gameday will be fined by the NFL, and can be subject to fines by their team as well.
Other than serious topics about football, Kate has been around the game since she was a kid, and reflected on her experiences going to Giants games on Sundays.
"It reminds me of my childhood," she said. "Going to a Giants game in New York with my family on a Sunday to me, that is the normal way and the most comforting way because you're surrounded by family, and love, and a lot of passion."
And we have the right to not watch.
Kate, you M(o)R(o)N
The issue is not whether they have a right to do it.
It’s an issue of whether it’s the right thing to do.
There is no Constitutional crisis.
It’s a crisis of character.
The same media that constantly complains that Trump keeps talking about the anthem.....keeps talking about the anthem.
The Giants have played in New Jersey, not New York, since 1976, Kate. You were born in 1983. So drop the self serving BS.
So her relatives are involved in the NFL. That doesn’t fix stupid.
I repeat what others have said: I have needed a policeman.
I have needed an EMT.
I have needed a teacher.
I have needed a plumber.
I have never needed a football player.
👍🏻👊🏻🇺🇸
Oh, Well, I guess if Kate Mara says so, then I guess it is settled.
.
.
Just one thing; Who is Kate Mara?
That's for sure !
Man, that Mara family has really hit the skids after Wellington Mara’s generation. That guy was a class act who put the “old” in “old school.”
Eff her and the nfl...FOREVER!
Well, then, she can buy up all the tickets for the empty seats.
LMAO. She’s obviously talking about the baseball Giants ... who moved to San Francisco in 1958.
Yep. I don’t play with dis-respect to our nations heroes.
Go F yourself Kate.
Hear hear!!
It is bad manners, poor sportsmanship and tantamount to treason.
