President Trump on Thursday blocked an automatic pay raise for 1.5 million federal workers, and asked Congress to pass legislation with no increase next year for employees covered by the General Schedule pay system.

“Federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases,” Trump wrote in a Thursday letter to congressional leaders, a formality that blocks an automatic 2.1 percent raise from taking effect in January under the Federal Employees Pay Comparability Act.

"I have determined that for 2019, both across‑the‑board pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero," Trump wrote.

Good. Biggest majority of the Federal government is inefficient and a waste of time, space and money anyway.

The letter likely will have little impact on prospects for a raise in January, since it merely repeats a position the White House has taken numerous times this year, beginning with its budget proposal in February. The final decision will be made as part of the congressional budget process — if House members and senators agree on a pay hike before the end of the year, Trump’s letter will be moot and a raise will take place anyway.

Because they voted for President Trump in droves the last time around?

I know teachers who voted for Chris Chrsitie TWICE

Not everyone public employee is a self serving, money grubbing, unionized, piece of shiat. Some do look at the bigger picture and understand what is going on and what needs to be done.

I work 3 days a week....in a hospital.

I've not had a raise in 7 or 8 years.

I make good money...working there.

But...I've lost money in the last 7-8 years.....What's a COLA? Ha!!

About time...someone cut back on automatic raises for GOV workers............

VA just got harder to carry.

The cancerous tumor complaining when its blood supply is cut off isn't a reason not to remove it.
