The woman sipped from a can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade, feeling carefree as she walked along Leavenworth Street in San Francisco’s Tenderloin. She thought she’d been invited out to celebrate her birthday.
Instead, she said, her former pimp crept up from behind and dropped her with a roundhouse punch.
Two men heaved her into a car trunk and they were off, forcing the woman to claw for her life in the dark as the vehicle careened along crowded city streets. Her life as a sex worker was dangerous, but now it had turned potentially deadly.
Soon police were in pursuit across the Bay Bridge. Minutes later the car would slam into a pole in a fiery, fatal wreck.

I gotta watch Oprah more often. Giving life saving tips to the black women of America. Quite a service. Anyhow they could make a movie out of this event which is just an average day in the liberal Bay Area.
I saw that wreck, not when it happened but after the police, fire, and ambulances had arrived. Around MacArthur Boulevard where it crosses San Pablo Avenue on the Oakland Emeryville border. I saw the scene from about a block away, and I made sure to avoid it. I never saw so many police fire and emergency vehicles in one place, so I looked on the internet when I got home to see what it was.
I grew up with something different: “A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty “Hi Yo Silver!” The Lone Ranger!”
Better times than this.
Having a don’t give a *hit moment. No crocodile tears.
Moral:
Do not live in San Francisco. You’ll get killed while drinking lemonade
It’s easy to feel that way if you know any of them personally. They will be rescued from that deadly life by good-hearted people and then they will go right back to it.
I see a new corporate marketing campaign in the making....
